What will you do? 

As Knowledge & Technology Manager, you assure the acquiring, generating, accumulating, sharing and preserving of wind tunnel simulation knowledge and technologies in the low, transonic and supersonic speed domains for the benefit of our organisation. You sense relevant innovation outside DNW and transfer this into DNW such that the departments can enable their members to build up the required knowledge to stay ahead of our competition. Based on the current and future test requirements, you initiate improvements of wind tunnel simulation, measuring, data processing and correction techniques in close cooperation with our experts. You coordinate the Research Support provided by the parent organisations NLR and DLR.

Furthermore, you support the acquisition with your technical expertise and coordinate DNW representation at congresses, symposia and international working groups, for which you initiate and/or realise the required publications.  To ensure the required knowledge level within DNW, you are responsible for the DNW HR plan on staff development.
 

What do you bring?

  • A university (Master) degree in aerospace engineering, or similar
  • Broad wind tunnel testing experience as operator or client
  • Sound knowledge of the aviation industry and their requirements
  • Proactive personality, recognising future developments and driving innovations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in working in national and international expert committees and with stakeholders
  • Excellent analytical and strategic skills
  • Fluent in English and preferably also German and Dutch

Your new working environment?

The German-Dutch Wind Tunnels (DNW), with its headquarters in Marknesse (NL), operates six wind tunnels at four different locations of the Netherlands Aerospace Center (NLR) and its German sister organisation DLR. In these advanced installations, our highly qualified staff conduct research for international clients, mainly from the aerospace and automotive sector. We work on projects from industry as well as the research community in which the aerodynamic, aeroacoustic and aeroelastic properties of aircraft, helicopters, cars, vans, trucks etc. are simulated and measured.
